More reasons to visit Cork’s local businesses, today.

Local businesses already use offers, discounts and loyalty cards to bring people in and keep them coming back. Deisly, a phone app built in Cork, makes that easier and shows it to people nearby on the same day.

An early pilot in Cork. Happy to meet in person.

01What members already do

Easier for the offers businesses already make

Offers, discounts, coupons and loyalty schemes already bring new customers in and keep regulars coming back. Deisly doesn’t ask a business to change what it does. It makes it quicker to post, and puts it in front of people nearby on the same day.

What businesses do today

With Deisly

In the windowA sign for today’s offer

Only people walking past see it.

Seen on phones nearby, today

As a full-screen story, on the map and in the list, nearest first, to people who haven’t walked past yet.

Reaches people who already follow the business, then gets buried in the feed.

Where people look for what’s on today

Every offer shows its price, how many are left and when it ends, so it’s easy to act on today.

At the tillPaper coupons and stamp cards

Printed, handed out, often lost.

Nothing to print

The customer shows the offer on their phone. One tap on Served via Deisly counts the visit in the business’s panel.

Follow, and the next offer comes first

People follow the business and its next offer comes first for them in Stories. Phone alerts to followers come with the next app version.

Alerts coming soon

No named competitors and no numbers: just what changes for a business that already makes offers.

02A weekday on Deisly

A day of reasons to go out

Every offer is for today and says when it ends, so a business can bring people in when its street is quiet.

Happy hour

A café fills the quiet hour between the rushes.

Hidden Gem

A deli’s last three lunches, €5, once the queue has gone.

Hidden Gem

A bakery’s bread and pastries before closing.

Tickets

An improv club fills its last eight seats.

Free

A pub’s trad session, free in.

Examples, drawn on a real hour scale. Six kinds of offer cover food, appointments, tickets, happy hours, shop discounts and free events.

03How it works

From first visit to regular

  1. The business posts

What it is, the price, how many are left and until when. In about a minute, from the phone it already has.

    In the pilot
An example bakery’s business panel: on now, left for Deisly, counted today, and a button to publish what’s left today.
The business panel, with example data.
  2. People nearby see it

As a full-screen story, on a map or in a list, nearest first. Nobody can pay to be shown first.

A story in the app from an example deli: a Hidden Gem, €5, ends in 35 minutes.
A story, with an example business and a test photo.
  3. They come in

The customer shows the offer on their phone. The business taps Served via Deisly and the visit is counted in its panel. No codes, no scanner.

    In the pilot
An offer’s page: price, end time and how far it is.

  4. They come back

They follow the business and its next offer comes first for them. Phone alerts to followers come with the next app version, at most one a day from each business.

    Follow is in the pilot
The Follow sheet over a story: follow an example cinema and its next offer shows first in Stories.

04For local high streets

What it does for local high streets

Three things a street gets, not the app: new faces, people who come back, and footfall in the hours that need it.

  • New customers for independents

People find businesses near them they’ve never tried, through an offer made for today. Nobody can pay to be shown first, so a small shop has the same chance as a chain.

  • Customers who come back

After a first visit, people can follow a business and see its next offer first. That’s a reason to come back to the same street.

  • People in the slow hours

Every offer has an end time, so a business can bring people in on a slow afternoon, an early evening or a midweek night.

Independents first

Deisly starts with independent businesses. Bigger brands come later, store by store, once Cork has customers.

  • No paid placement

Nobody can pay to be shown first, and ratings and badges can’t be bought.

  • One place per brand

A brand takes one place in your area, however many shops it has nearby.

  • An Independent filter

People can choose to see only independent businesses.

  • Local Hero is for independents

The monthly Local Hero badge goes only to independent businesses.

05Not only offers

Not every post has to be a discount

Each business gets a section called Our picks, with the things it’s proud of. People get a reason to follow it and come back, and the business gives away no margin.

  • Our signature

What the business is known for, always on its page.

  • New in

A new cake, a new range, a new class. It shows for a few days.

  • Fresh today

Today’s bake, today’s catch, today’s flowers. For today only.

  • Most saved nearby

Added by Deisly from what people save. Nobody can buy it.

Coming soon

Our picks and New in can be seen today in the pilot’s example mode. New in and Fresh today show in Stories after today’s live offers.

  • A follower count, from 10

    Coming soon

Once 10 or more people follow a business, it and its customers see how many. Never who they are.

  • A Contact button

    Coming soon

The business’s phone and WhatsApp on its page, so people can ask before they come.

  • Verified ratings

    Coming soon

Only people who came through Deisly can rate. Never for sale, and they don’t change the order. Visible today in example mode.

Rules we keep

The same rules for every business, written so you can check them.

  • No paid placement

Nobody can pay to be shown first. Offers are listed nearest first.

  • No lock-in

No contract. Businesses stop whenever they like and stay free to use any other app.

  • Honest offers

Every offer shows the final price, how many are left and until when. A crossed-out price must be the lowest charged in the last 30 days.

  • Food safety basics

Food offers list allergens. Nothing goes out past its use-by date.

  • No discounted alcohol

Never. Pubs take part with food and events.

  • Customers’ details stay private

Businesses never receive customers’ contact details.

What we won’t do

Neutrality matters to councils and associations. These are commitments, not settings.

  • Say you endorse Deisly, or use your name or logo, without a text agreed with you in writing.

  • Ask for member lists, or contact your members without their agreement.

  • Ask businesses to match prices or leave other apps.

  • Run discounted alcohol offers.

Giving back

Coming soon

Once Deisly charges its first fees, a share of what it earns goes to registered Cork charities: homelessness, cancer care, animals, disability and mental health. Customers choose which. Businesses can match it on their own offers, if they want to. Every quarter, we’ll publish what was given and each charity’s receipt.

The amount isn’t set yet, and nothing is given during the pilot, because nothing is charged. Only charities on Ireland’s Charities Register, and none is named until it’s agreed in writing.

Where the pilot stands

The pilot starts in Cork city centre, about 2 km around St Patrick’s Street. Where it goes next depends on what we learn there.

Deisly is for any local business, not only the city centre. Businesses elsewhere in Cork are welcome to write, and it helps us choose where to go next.

08Working together

What we’d ask of each partner

It starts with a conversation about your street: tell us what your members are trying to solve. After that, small and specific things, each one yours to say no to.

Traders’ associations

Cork Business Association, the Victorian Quarter, sector groups

  • An introduction to 5 to 10 members in the pilot area who want more customers through the door.

  • A short mention in your newsletter, in words you approve.

  • Five minutes at a members’ event, and your view of what would worry members.

For your members: no charge during the pilot, no contract, and founding-partner terms for those who join through you.

Advice for a Cork start-up

  • Your view of the pilot and how we’re running it.

  • Which LEO events and programmes bring small local businesses together.

  • Who at Cork City Council to talk to about local high streets.

Advice, not an endorsement. Nothing has been agreed.

Cork City Council

Local high streets and the city centre

  • A conversation about how same-day offers could bring more people to local high streets.

  • Later, a place as one of the tools at a city event such as Cork on a Fork.

  • Your view on which local events and campaigns Deisly could support.

Public bodies stay neutral between companies. We know that, and we’d work within it.

09For your members

What your members get

The pilot is how we learn what works for a business and what it’s worth to them, so we don’t charge while we’re learning.

  • No charge during the pilot, and no card to join.

  • An offer in about a minute, from the phone they already have.

11Questions

What partners ask us

Anything else, ask the founder directly at [email protected].

Would working with you count as an endorsement?

No. An introduction or a newsletter mention says only what you agree to say. We won’t use your name or logo without a text agreed in writing.

What does it cost your members?

Nothing during the pilot, and no card to join. After it, we propose that posting stays free, with optional plans at €39 and €79 + VAT a month, and a fee only on Hidden Gems paid in the app, lower than other apps for surplus food. Slots and tickets paid in the app are 0%. None of this is final: each business gets the terms in writing and is asked before anything is charged.

Do you need our member data?

No. We don’t ask for member lists. Businesses that are interested write to us or sign up themselves.

What about big brands?

They come later, store by store, once Cork has customers. A brand takes one place in your area however many shops it has nearby, people can filter for Independent, and nobody can pay to be shown first.

How will you measure results?

Each business counts its visits with Served via Deisly, and people who saved an offer may be asked privately whether they got it and whether it was as described. We can share what we learn with you, without naming any business unless it agrees.

Why start in the city centre?

It’s dense enough to test same-day offers within walking distance. Deisly is for any local business, so businesses elsewhere in Cork are welcome to write, and it helps us choose where to go next.

Does Deisly compete with our own campaigns or other apps?

It sits alongside them. Businesses keep every other channel, and we’d be glad to support your own events with offers made for the day.

What happens after the pilot?

We’ll settle the prices, set out terms in writing and ask each business before anything is charged. Where we go next in Cork depends on what the pilot shows. Any business can stop at any time.

Who’s behind Deisly?

Deisly is a Cork start-up. You deal directly with the founder, who runs the pilot and is glad to meet you in person.
